5 Ways in Which 2020 Has Given us Fuel for the Future 🔥
What a year it’s been! And a year that not one of us was expecting.
Many of us came into 2020 - the start of a completely brand new decade - determined and motivated to make this year one of the best yet. However, just a few months in to the new year and Coronavirus came along, knocking many of us down and many of us off course.
This year, for some of us, has been one of the most challenging years of our lives. We had to sit back and lock ourselves away while the world around us completely changed. Schools closed. Shops closed. Businesses were forced to close. We were physically separated from family, friends and colleagues. The things we found solace in outside of the home were taken away. For many of us, the world went dark bringing with it so many challenges, in many different ways.
Like myself, you may be an entrepreneur too, which is hard enough at the best of times. But when challenges present themselves, such as the pandemic and lockdown this year, the odds become stacked ever higher against us. It’s times like these (although we have never experienced anything like this before!) where life questions how much we really want it. It’s times like this where we realise ourselves how much we really want it.

And it hasn’t been easy, not at all. But we have made it this far which shows we can make it through anything.
So don’t write 2020 off as a failure. In fact, 2020 could go down as one of the best years ever because of how much it has given to us in ways we didn’t expect.
Here are 5 ways in which 2020 has given us the fuel for a stronger, brighter, better future…
1. 2020 has helped us build stronger relationships
Being physically cut off from family, friends and colleagues has certainly helped us to appreciate them more. As well as that, it has actually encouraged us to build stronger relationships with the ones we spent lockdown with as well as those we didn’t see for months and months and months.
With some people spending lockdown in complete isolation and some even losing family members and friends to the virus, 2020 has shown us just how important it is to have people that we love and who love us in our lives, and for having relationships that can withstand adversity and make it through to the other side.
2. 2020 has given us the opportunity to work on our self-growth and self-belief
Without testing times, we would never have the opportunity to grow and become better than we were before. And isn’t that what life is all about?
This year we have been through things that people have never experienced before. We’ve taught ourselves how to homeschool our children while managing work and business at the same time; we’ve struggled with no sales; we’re had to deal with our teams not performing as well as they once were; we’ve had to cope with the stress and negativity surrounding the pandemic itself, and so much more.
But through all of those things, our tenacity, our grit, our motivation, our self-belief, our confidence, our resilience and our determination have all grown. We have become better than we were before the pandemic. We have become stronger than we were before the pandemic.
2020 has shown us how important self-growth and self-belief are, and more than anything that these are areas of our lives which we should focus on more without having to wait for testing times to come along and force us to do so.
3. 2020 has helped us to improve our businesses and systems
2020 has been one heck of a year for the online selling world - which, since the beginning of lockdown, has absolutely exploded.
Although that is fantastic news for us online sellers, it also means that we’ve had to adjust our businesses and systems to accommodate to the ever-increasing demand.
Personally, I’ve had many conversations with my teams in various areas on how to handle the situation, and we’ve come up with many solutions that have definitely improved my business overall for the long run.
Without 2020, many of us may not have even thought of organising certain aspects of our business or creating more efficient systems. 2020 gave us the opportunity to do that.
4.2020 has shown us the importance of protecting our energy
This year has been very serious. There’s a been a lot of darkness, a lot of negativity, a lot of controversy. It’s been all too easy to get sucked into it all, leaving many of us feeling down, drained and demotivated.
And it’s okay to admit that you’ve felt that way, or even that you still do. But what I also have to highlight is that there are some things that you can control in your own life, and protecting your energy is one of them.
Implementing daily habits and practices to keep your energy levels high and to keep positivity at the forefront of your life is hugely beneficial; it will impact everything and everyone around you, in a positive way.
You can control who and what you surround yourself with. You can control what you give your own energy to. You can decide to release negative energy and embrace positive energy.
It all comes down to you - but if you want to feel good despite whatever is happening in the world, you must find ways to protect your energy.
5. 2020 has proven our strength and our ability to get through anything
We have gone and are still going through one of the most challenging, overwhelming years to date. But with challenge comes opportunity; with adversity, you realise your own inner power. And we have almost made it through to the other side.
We have stumbled, struggled, tripped and fallen. But we’ve gotten back up and we’ve carried on going. And that means everything.
2020 has shown us how strong and resilient we really are. It has shown us that even when the unexpected occurs, we have all the tools to get through it. It has shown us that we can get through anything.
So don't write 2020 off just yet.
Use the lessons learned throughout this year to provide you with the fuel to create the future that you dream of.
Keep taking massive action.
Keep going - and don’t ever give up.
