How To Have A Good Day, Everyday? (Well As Often As Possible!)

What does it feel like when you don’t have a good day?

It feels crap, let’s be honest. You get towards the end of the day and you’re thinking about all the stuff you haven’t done. You’re anxious and exhausted and you don’t know where the time has gone.

When you have a good day, you feel the complete opposite, you feel like celebrating.

Unfortunately there are those days where nothing goes your way; so I’m sharing some insights that I apply in my own life to set myself up for a good day every day. The more good days you have, the more good weeks you have – those weeks turn into good months, then before you know it you’re living a happy life.

How to have a good day...

A big thing that I do in preparation for every day is to plan what I would like to achieve and do that day. I’m one of those people who if I don’t plan my day, I will get dragged around in every direction, pulled around by phone notifications and emails. I’m super reactive, like a hamster in a hamster wheel, just spinning and not really getting anywhere; when I don’t plan that is. Those days fill me with anxiety.

However, just like everyone else, you can still be pulled. You can plan all you like, but some things you just have to take care of can come up.

I also try to control as much as possible regarding my day. The difficulty comes throughout the middle part of the day, the times when you’re at work or your business and you’re around other people. So what I do is try to control the start and end of the day.

One method that I use, which has been great for me, is I’ve literally turned off wifi on my phone until 8AM. So when I get up at 6AM, I’ve got two hours with no distractions, specifically to plan what I want to do with my day. That will set me up for a great day I’ve not got any distractions, I’ve just woken up and decided what I want to do.

At the end of the day, past a certain time, I’ll literally switch that internet off again. I’ve been trying to improve my sleeping, and having aeroplane mode on definitely helps.

I also try to think of three specific things that I can do; something that I associate with having a good day. Think of actions you take that you associate with a good day; maybe jot them down after a good day.

I’ve found that when you have a good day, it tends to be a common theme throughout the day that makes it. If I’m having a good day, the chances are that I’ve woken up on time, get that first couple of hours of me time, then exercise. Exercise makes me feel great, and if I don’t exercise of a morning then I get anxious thinking about having to do it later. I love having some time every day around my family. I take time with my son, daughter and Kylie, because that makes me feel happy. I’m not coming home from work to do more work; I’m coming home to spend time with the people most important to me.

Try and pinpoint three things that you can aim to do every day that you appreciate so much that it will make average days good and bad days not so bad!
