How to Build Confidence and Self-Esteem in Business
One third of Americans admit that fear of failure holds them back from starting a business.
I’d be confident in estimating that that number is pretty much the same all around the world, if not bigger.
That means that there are 33% of people out there not pursuing something that they dream of, all because they’re afraid to fail. And that applies to so many more of us in different areas of our lives, too.
But, two of the main keys to success in business are confidence and self-esteem – without these, you’ve pretty much failed before you’ve even started. Without the confidence to begin and without the courage to keep going and step outside of your comfort zone, you’re always going to be held back.
Yes, building a business can be a struggle. It’s going to demand your hard work, your persistence, your patience, your commitment and so much more of you, day in and day out.
You’re going to stumble, fall and break.
But, you’re also going to get stronger, you’re going to grow and learn, and you’re going to win. This is the journey. And this is the price we pay for building a business that we dream of.
If you really want it and you’re willing to do what is required to achieve it, then the time to get started is now.
Here are my top tips on building your confidence and self-esteem in business so you can take those first steps into creating the business of your dreams…
WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW:
1. Break down your goals
Having big goals is fantastic. It means you dream big and you surely have whatever it takes within you to achieve them.
However, for many of us, these big goals can become overwhelming and prevent us from ever getting started in the first place. The goal, instead of being something that excites us, becomes something that scares us.
This is why it is massively important to break down your goals into smaller, manageable, less overbearing chunks.
If you want to start an Amazon FBA business, and you have this massive goal of making £10k profit every month, why not begin by setting yourself a daily goal of researching the business model for a couple of hours every day? Your next goal could then be to enroll in an Amazon FBA course. Your next goal could then be to open your Seller Central Amazon account. And so on.
The point is to take that one major goal and break it down into as many smaller goals as you need to, to give you the push to get started.
I set myself 10 year goals and break them down into 5 year goals, yearly goals, monthly goals, weekly goals, and finally, daily goals which consist of three tasks to complete within my business everyday that will help us to grow and eventually reach that massive 10 year goal.
If that seems like too much for you, start with a yearly goal and break that down so you know what the year ahead of you is going to look like.
Breaking down your goals makes it much more likely that you will achieve them.
2. Build momentum by taking one step at a time
All you have to do is take that first step.
When you begin taking action, there are forces at play that get behind you and propel you forward.
Take each day one step at a time, using the smaller goals mentioned in tip #1, and you’ll notice as you keep going, the more momentum you will build, the more things will keep working out for you and the more action you’ll want to take yourself.
3. Celebrate your wins
It’s funny how we beat ourselves up when we fail, even when we’ve made the smallest mistake, but how we don’t celebrate ourselves when we win, especially when it’s a ‘small’ win.
Every time you achieve one of your daily goals or your weekly goals, celebrate yourself! Treat yourself to something that you like – whether it’s something as simple as a latte from your favourite coffee shop, or an hour of Netflix that evening.
But don’t let those small wins pass you by and go unnoticed. It’s those small wins that are going to build your confidence in achieving the bigger wins. So celebrate your journey, every step of the way.
4. Work on the beliefs you hold about yourself
I’m going to be honest, when your beliefs about yourself aren’t entirely positive, this is one of the most difficult things to do.
But the beauty is that these beliefs too, can be changed. Whatever you feed your mind with will become your thoughts, and repeated thoughts eventually become beliefs.
You can try writing down positive affirmations – and speaking them out loud is really powerful too.
Listen to powerful, uplifting content, read success stories, watch motivational videos and change the narrative that you tell yourself.
You’ll also notice, the more you begin to do and achieve on your business journey, the more you will begin to believe in yourself.
5. Create an environment that motivates and inspires you
This ties in massively to the point above. Whatever you surround yourself with will have a big impact on you, your mindset and how you conduct yourself and your business.
Create an environment that uplifts you. This is what I call the ‘massive action eco-system’.
Your massive action eco-system is everything that you consume or that you’re around; whether that’s the things you see, the space in which you work, through the books you read, the podcasts you listen to and the people you surround yourself with, to name but a few.
Everything around you and everything you take in needs to uplift you, inspire you and motivate you for the confidence and self-esteem you are working on building to really set in.
A supportive community is hugely beneficial too. You can join our Massive Action Mastermind Facebook group here, for all things to do with Amazon businesses and filled with positive people and success stories.
6. Take massive action
And finally – there is no way I couldn’t include this – but you need to take massive action. There is simply no getting away from it!
Follow the tips above and take small steps everyday.
The more action you take, the more you will begin to believe in yourself.
The more action you take, the more results you will see.
The more results you see, the more you will be filled with the confidence to keep going.
So take massive action – whatever that may mean to you – every single day.

Finally…
I’ll leave you with these words from Marie Curie:
“Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and, above all, confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.”
Have confidence, believe in yourself and go ahead in making your business dreams come true.
Here’s to your massive success!
