How Starting Your Own Business Will Make You a Better Person
Have you ever wanted to start your own business? Have you toyed with the idea time and time again, but never actually made the decision to start? Do you feel that because of this, you’re stuck in life and feel like you’re just not going anywhere? And is that making you feel down, depressed and anxious?
Well, let me tell you something from my own personal experience.
Many of the answers you’re seeking actually lie in the process of taking initiative, coming up with a business idea and making a plan to create your dream life. You would never have the longing to start something if you didn’t already have everything within you to make it happen.
And what’s so incredible about this whole process is that starting and building your own business will actually help you to grow and develop in so many other different areas of your life, too – and in turn, will automatically help you to become a better person.
In 2015, my partner Kylie and I embarked on our own journey of entrepreneurship, starting out in our living room. One of the first things I realised going into this journey was that building a business and your own personal development go hand in hand. The more your business grows, the more you have to grow as a person.

So let’s talk about this a little more.
Here are 5 reasons why starting your own business will help to make you a better person…
1. You’ll constantly be learning, which means that you’re always growing
When I started my business, I hardly knew anything about running a business. And it might just be the same for you.
When you start your own business, there will be a lot of things you have to do for the very first time. There will be a lot of things you don’t know how to do. Which in turn means that there will be a lot of things you need to learn how to do.
Whether it’s in terms of business management, product/service development, marketing, managing a team or even understanding how to speak to clients and customers, there will always be something new to learn. And even when you pretty much know what you’re doing, there will always be opportunities to learn more and become even better.
Through this process of constant learning, you’ll also constantly be growing as a person; becoming someone who has more knowledge, skills and passion.
2. As you level up in business, you’ll want to start levelling up in other areas of your life
In my own experience, the more passion and energy I gave to my business, the more I wanted to improve every other area of my life, too.
There’s just something super special about finding something you want to commit your life to; there’s something about setting goals and making plans that just gets you so excited and riled up about life.
Starting and building a business helped me to improve my health and wellbeing in mind, body and soul; it helped me to become a better, more present father to my children and a better partner to Kylie; it improved my relationship with myself and everyone around me and it gave me a zest for life and wanting to become the best that I can be, that I’d never experienced before.
3. You’ll grow in confidence
As you go along on your entrepreneurial journey and as you start hitting certain milestones and achieving particular goals, what you’ll realise is that anything is possible for you, if you put your mind to it and put in the massive action it takes to get there.
It’s so important to celebrate your wins along the way, as small as they may be because it shows you that you are getting one step closer, day-by-day to the life you envision.
The more you win and the more you celebrate, the more self-belief you will cultivate and the more confident you will become. That confidence is a magnet for even more goodness and success, and the ball will keep on rolling turning you into a powerhouse!
4. You’ll start thinking more creatively
In all business, there is a certain level of creativity that is required. And as you grow and build your own, you’ll notice that you start to think more creatively and out of the box because that is what is required for you to succeed.
You’ll naturally start thinking about your branding, your products and services, and your marketing. You’ll start brainstorming how you can be different to the rest and stand out from the crowd. You’ll come up with all sorts of creative and innovative ideas that you probably would never have even given a second thought to if you didn’t have your own business.
Starting your own business will spark that creativity within you, even if you never saw yourself as a creative person.
5. You’ll become a problem solver
As you endeavour on your entrepreneurial journey, the truth is that there will always be different challenges or setbacks that test your patience, your skills and your will to succeed. It is only through the experience of such challenges that we grow and we learn as entrepreneurs, and as human beings.
You’ll find as you go further along your path that the obstacles that arise will only make you stronger and better in many different ways. Instead of thinking the worst when a challenge presents itself, you’ll find that as an entrepreneur, you’ll automatically start thinking of solutions.
This will translate into other areas of your life too, meaning that you’ll come to a point where you are able to handle any situation that comes your way without letting it completely consume you. This is true growth.
My advice to you…
So if you’ve been thinking about starting something new or you feel stuck in life, my advice to you would be to go all in and start a new business.
Whether it’s opening an online store, developing a course, starting a YouTube channel or a blog… whatever it may be, choose to serve a group of people, start making a plan and throw yourself at it.
I assure you, as long as you commit and take massive action every single day, you will grow, learn and develop so much, not only as an entrepreneur but as a human being, too.
It will change your life! Are you up for the challenge?
Here’s to your massive success.🙌🏼
