Hello everybody, it’s Kev here from LifeSucessEngineer.com and in this video I want to share with you how to plan your year!
How to plan all the goals that you’ve set for yourself and make sure that you are taking action and making progress towards those goals because that is the whole idea – that’s the idea of setting new year’s goals and resolutions.

We have these big ambitions and aspirations and you need to be able to plan them accordingly throughout the year to make sure you achieve them because if you don’t achieve your goals, why are we doing that in that in the first place?
So in this video, I just want to share with you a very simple and easy technique that I use when it comes to planning all the goals that I set for myself because I have approximately 50 goals for 2017 and some may say that’s too many – you know, that is too many goals to focus on, and I totally agree. They are too many goals and if you focus on all of them all at the same time, you would make no progress at all!
You would be overwhelmed, you would be completely paralyzed and you wouldn’t know where to focus your energy and you would make no progress. So what I like to do is once I have a list of all my goals for 2017 or for the entire year, I then look at those goals and I categorize those goals in two different ways.
1) Are they a progression type goal? Is it something I’m going to have to work towards to achieve?
2) Is it a moment in time? Is it a fixed goal? Is it just a moment in time in the year to achieve that goal?
So let me give you an example. A fixed goal would be: I’m going to Tony Robbins Unleash the Power Within 2017 in London, which is actually scheduled at the end of April, so I don’t need to think about that goal until that moment in time. It’s a fixed goal.
So a progression type goal would be: for example, I am going to be competing (I say competing, I’m actually going to be participating) in an event called Tough Guy, which is an exercise event. It’s actually an obstacle course, and that is on the 30th of January. Now, that is a moment in time but you can call that a progression type goal because I need to do some work leading up to it to achieve that goal, so you are going to have to plan your fitness regime, you’re going to have to go to the gym, you’re going to have to look after your diet and things like that.
Once you’ve categorised your list of goals on whether they are a fixed moment in time or progression type goals, you can then – and this is the best way I’ve found it – split your year into quarters. You can split your year into quarters in three month chunks, so quarter one would be January, February, March; quarter two would then be April, May, June, and that’s how I work.
What I then do is I’ve got the entire calendar, which is split up into quarters and then I simply get my goals and place them in the year where is appropriate! So the Tony Robbins event, that is going to be in Q2 because it’s in April. I then don’t have to think about that, give it any thought at all, keep it out of my mind, put it in the calendar, put it in Google calendar and I don’t have to think about it up until that month.
Do you see what I’m saying? And that really allows you to focus your time on where it matters, so you can allocate potential progression type goals, so let’s say for example I want to create a thousand video blogs, a thousand videos for my Life Success Engineer Youtube channel.
Now, I’m not going to do that in a moment in time, I’m going to have to split that up into quarters and fit that in over a period of time, so I may schedule to do 100 videos for example, in one quarter over three months, and at that point there, you can see that what happens is you then have your rota, you have your schedule for the months because what I’m most likely going to do is I’m going to break this up into how to potentially plan your month and how to plan your week. I may evolve this into a different type of video in terms of specifically, how to plan your day but, I hope you see what I’m getting at.
Once you have a list of your goals and you’ve decided whether they’re progression type goals or if they are fixed moment in time goals, then it’s very important – and this is one of the biggest lessons that I learned.
It’s very important to use a vehicle, use a capture system, which allows you to essentially get it out your mind. Get it out of your mind and into a calendar, whether that is an actual physical calendar, whether it’s a calendar on the board, whether it’s a Google calendar, electronic, whether it’s an app; whatever the case is, make sure that you schedule it throughout the year, make sure you chunk those bits of time for those goals and then you just completely forget about it and then once it gets to that month, you can then have a planning session for the month and say what is scheduled this month?
Get your calendar out and you can see April, Tony Robbins event, I’ll be there at the end of the month and you’ll find your productivity will go through the roof because you’re no longer keeping things in your mind!
Now, like I said, I can expand this and I will expand this into more videos on how to be productive because I feel it’s a practice, a habit, a skill that you have to develop, it’s like a muscle. Once you get into a habit of scheduling your time and scheduling your tasks and focusing on your goals in a way that you can only use your mental energy to focus on one thing at a time throughout the year, you’ll find that you’re so much more productive.
So, I highly recommend you do the same. That’s exactly what I’ve done, I have my goals for the year, they have now been split up into the quarters, they’ve been split up into whether they are progression or fixed moment in time. I’ve then worked out how many video blogs I have to create, how many subscribers I would like to reach, how many blog posts I need to create, how often I need to go to the gym or schedule a juice fast, you know, so you don’t get any conflict.
I don’t want to be scheduling a juice fast if it is coming up towards for example, the five days before an obstacle event. It’s not going to happen. So it’s really important for you to be organized!
I highly recommend you try to action some way from this video. If you want to know anything more, go on over to LifeSuccessEngineer.com, I have a lot of content on there on how you can increase your productivity and I’m publishing more and more each day, so I hope that was worthwhile.
