Your energy and vitality are the things you need most to do everything in life from business to family to your relationships to your lifestyle! So what better way to kick off than to go through a very simple guide to boosting your energy and vitality!
On the first of every month, we are going to be talking health and fitness. Health and fitness is something I take really seriously, I really take care of this aspect of my life, as we all should do.
What I will stress is that health and fitness is something that is unique to us all. There is no one size fits all solution. Things that work for me might not work for you, and my simple philosophy on this is to try things out. If it improves your energy and vitality just for everyday life, then it’s working for you!
Simple guide to optimising your energy!
I’m currently testing things and introducing things into my diet, and if things work I’ll continue with it, if I see no benefit, I’ll stop. That’s my simple philosophy. I really encourage you to adopt this philosophy, it’s all about common sense.
If you introduce something into your diet and it improves the way you feel, that’s great! If it makes no difference or if you’re feeling worse, stop.
If I eat terribly and my diet isn’t good, it affects all areas of my life. I don’t have the motivation or desire, it gets to 7pm and I’m tired and struggling to wake up in the morning.
Your energy and vitality is the most important thing, and this is why it’s my number one area of my Life Success Engineering areas of success.
In terms of optimising your energy, I’m going to be talking about a Dr. Mark Hyman. This is something I got from the UPW seminar I went to. You can go to www.EWG.org for a lot more information, but I’m going to be giving this guide free in my Life Success Engineer toolkit, so remember to check it out!
Optimising your detox system is one of the most important things you can do, because as you optimising your detox system, you can then introduce new things to your body and this is going to have a direct impact on how you feel. The fuel you run off is what you put in your body.
Are you suffering from toxicity?
Dr. Mark Hyman introduces us to the symptoms of toxicity, so if you suffer from fatigue, muscle and join pain, headaches, bloating, sleeping issues, gas, difficulty concentrating, food cravings, skin challenges or trouble losing weight, all these things are symptoms that something is not quite right in your body.
He also shows us simple things you can start to do in your day-to-day life to increase your energy and vitality levels and decrease the negative effects of toxicity in your body.
A simple 5 step process to detoxify your body:
- Drink plenty of clean, filtered water
- Keep your bowels moving
- Eat detoxifying foods such as vegetables, herbs, spices, green tea
- Exercise daily
- Sweat at least three times per week
I try to follow as many of these steps as possible. If you follow me on my Snapchat, you can get access to my day-to-day videos, so if you’re interested, you can follow me at kev-1. You’ll see me at the gym, I’m always trying to work out and improve my physique, energy and wellbeing.
Diet
In terms of the things you should be eating, he talks about unlimited non-starchy vegetables, so basically vegetables like mushroom, asparagus, beansprouts, eggplant, beet greens, snap beans, spinach, lettuce.
He also recommends consuming healthy fats such as olive oil, wild fish, nuts and seeds, coconut oil while eating less gluten, sugars, sweetened drinks and alcohol, and dairy products.
He also recommends increasing what you put in your body in terms of supplements. Now, I’ve been working around with supplements, I now take all of these listed below in my day-to-day life, and hopefully you can see the benefits to why I’m taking them.
- Vitamin D – supports normal bone, teeth, muscle and immune health
- Zinc – antioxidant, supports skin and immune system
- Berocca – I have this every morning, it’s slow energy releasing and has all the vitamins you need!
- NACs
- Udo’s Choice – ultimate oil blend of essential fats (Omega 3, 6, 9)
- Pure Energy Greens – this has organic wheatgrass, grass powder (your greens)
I’ll leave links below for everything listed here, most of it is all from Amazon.
You want to put your body in an alkaline state. The more alkaline your body is, your body is going to work at more optimum levels, so you’re going to be able to digest your food better and have more energy.
You can achieve this by your clean eating, so eating your vegetables and by introducing these supplements. Anything that’s green, eat more of. That’s going to put you more in the alkaline state.
In terms of snacking, I would recommend trying TREK bars. They’ve got 10 grams of protein in them, and they’re flapjacks and come in all different flavours! Nakd bars are also good, they’re gluten, wheat and dairy free.
Exercise
I’ve purchased Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein, which is from an organic plant formula, I don’t use whey protein. It’s vegan, dairy free and soy free. It has the enzymes and probiotics in there to help with my workouts!
It’s slightly more expensive than whey protein but you’re definitely better off investing in a formula that’s all about greens and raw, organic ingredients.
I’m not dairy free yet and I’m not vegan, but I believe in the philosophy of continuing with what makes you feel better.
I spoke to Andy Laughlin from Fit Body Strong Mind a while back, and he talks about increasing your protein intake. This is going to help you optimise building your muscles, so I try and focus on my greens and my protein intake and I also try to eliminate as much junk food as possible.
Some simple rules I try to implement in my daily lifestyle as well include:
- Cold showers
- Don’t eat when it’s dark – don’t eat late at night
- Drinking lots of water
This is just a guideline you can refer to in terms of changing your lifestyle if you’re not feeling as energetic as you want to. You might be lacking a supplement, you might be lacking exercise or water. Try playing with your body, and if something works, continue it.
Research everything that you take, always have a look at what your needs are and if you have concerns, please contact your own health advisor.
I’ve also been documenting my health and fitness journey in my Monthly Goals Report, so every single month I let you know what I’m doing in terms of my health and fitness. This is just an expansion to that so I can talk more in depth about what I’ve been doing and things I’ve been learning!
