The Importance of a Morning Routine for Amazon Sellers and Our Top Tips!
How you start your day can mean all the difference between a day that is really great and leaves you feeling fulfilled and accomplished, or one that leaves you feeling frustrated, dissatisfied and even down.
As Amazon sellers, you know as well as I do, the amount of things we need to get done on any given day to keep business ticking over. The truth is, no matter how much you get done, there will always be more! This is why I can’t emphasise enough how important creating a good morning routine is if you’re an Amazon seller.
Successful leaders all throughout time have emphasised the importance of how you spend your mornings. Leaders from Benjamin Franklin all the way through to one of the most successful and powerful women of today, Oprah Winfrey, swear by their morning routines, stating that they can help you start off your day feeling calm, controlled and powerful and so, aid you in taking those feelings through to the rest of your day.
I recently sat down with Sophia Dearden, one of our coaches and the founder of Resource Worldwide, to have an open chat about morning routines and how they can effectively impact you as an Amazon seller.

Top tips
Here are some of our key take-aways from the conversation and some top tips that you can also implement as an Amazon seller, to help get your day off to the best start.
1. Prepare for tomorrow the night before
How you spend the night before the next day can make all the difference between getting up early and getting your day off to a good start… or not.
Some good practices to implement are winding down by doing some evening relaxation; planning how you want the next day to look and setting your intentions for it; setting a time by which you put all your devices away (no-screen time), and going to bed at a time which will allow you to get a decent nights sleep while still being able to wake up early.
One thing I recommend as an entrepreneur is putting your phone onto airplane mode a few hours before you go to bed – or as early as possible. This means that if you want your evening to be intentional – whether that’s spending it with family, or doing something for your own relaxation – you are limiting all distractions and leaving work until the next day. You deserve that time away from work to focus solely on yourself, in preparation for the day ahead.
2. Use Google Calendar to plan your day
I swear by my calendar! And as an Amazon seller, I can’t highlight enough how amazing planning your days can be – leading to more productivity and less distraction.
Personally, I plan every part of every single day, including everything on Google Calendar from the time I wake up, to the time I take the kids to school, through to my deep work sessions and what I do in my evenings.
What I’ve found is that when you set appointments with yourself, you’re much more likely to keep them. I usually plan my week in advance, on a Sunday, so I know exactly how the week ahead will look and I can focus on my attention on where it is needed.
In terms of morning routines, this also goes in my calendar: the time I wake up, the time I will exercise, the time I will journal, the time I will eat breakfast.
I know this method may not be for everyone, but I find that it really keeps me on track and committed to making my day as great and productive as possible.
3. Wake up before everyone else
That time of the day when the world is still sleeping but you’re awake is truly magical. If you live with family or you have children, waking up before everyone else will especially benefit you.
In this time of quiet and solitude, you can get really intentional about your day and even your life. This is your time alone with yourself to fit in some practices to do with self-growth, spiritual-growth or personal development, or to even work on a work task with no distractions.
4. Get some movement into your morning
Exercise in the morning really is powerful. As Sophie says in this video,
“Motion creates emotion. The more you move, the more you get the blood flowing, the better you feel and the better you’re able to handle situations.”
And I couldn’t agree more!
I fully set the intention to get into my outdoor gym by 7am every morning. Truthfully, some days it doesn’t happen, but the days that I do manage to get in at such an early time make the world of difference.
Listening to inspirational and empowering music while I work out really gets me pumped for the day ahead and I feel so much more ready to take on the day and whatever it may hold, even if that is setbacks, adversities or problems within the business. Those endorphins are everything, I’m telling you!
5. Give gratitude
In our conversation, Sophie mentions the importance of giving gratitude in the morning. Even if you don’t think you have the time, you can always fit in some time to give thanks.
Sophie combines her gratitude practice with her morning shower, listing ten things she is grateful for while showering. And she highlights that these can be the most simple of things too, such as being grateful for your health, for running water, for food, and so much more.
Gratitude is hugely important to me too, and I’ve found that the more thanks you give, the more you receive in your life.
As Amazon sellers, it can be easy to become frustrated with Amazon’s rule changes, but everyday I tell myself what an incredible opportunity Amazon is and how it has completely impacted and changed my life for the better. Giving gratitude trains you to always look at the good in life, and giving thanks in the morning will ensure that your day gives you more things to be thankful for.
But sometimes, life happens
You could be a new parent, or be the parent of an older child who still doesn’t sleep through the night. You may have some kind of health problem that makes getting up more difficult, or you may just have had an extremely good night the night before! Whatever the reason, sometimes sticking to a morning routine 100% of the time just isn’t feasible or even possible.
When this happens, PLEASE DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP ABOUT IT. It’s okay and as long as you know how to get back on track, that’s what’s most important.
If this does happen to you, don’t let your day be wasted. Find a way to reset. Go for a walk, do some meditation, have a cup of tea alone, listen to your favourite music, BREATHE! Whatever it is, do something calming to set you up for the rest of the day. Don’t go from a chaotic morning straight into work – that usually doesn’t work out very well.
Finally…
So as you can see, for both Sophie and I as Amazon sellers, how we spend our mornings is super important and impactful on the rest of our day.
Here are some of the main ideas we’d love for you to take away from this video and blog post:
- Be super intentional about your days
- Plan everyday as best as you can, but don’t beat yourself up if things don’t always go to plan
- Always have a way to reset if you find things getting too much
- Try and establish a morning routine to get those early wins in and set your day up for success
We really hope you’re able to take something from this and create a morning routine that is empowering and works for you.
